Curtiss SOC-3 Seagull, SON-1 (BuNo. 1166), built by the Naval Aircraft Factory for use on battleships and cruisers.  This Seagull was assigned to Observation Squadron Three on the battleship USS Mississippi.  Photo taken at Oakland, California, Feb 1940.

Lockheed C-130J Hercules "Hurricane Hunter" with the United States Air Force Reserve aircraft parked on tarmac at Keesler Air Force Base near Biloxi, Mississippi,  after Hurricane Katrina.  "Hurricane Hunter" aircraft were used to help track the path of hurricanes.  Keesler Air Force Base was in the direct path of Hurricane Katrina and was heavily damaged.  4 Oct 2005.

Lockheed C-130J Hercules being cleaned up in a wash system (nicknamed the Bird Bath) at Keesler AFB.   The Air Force Reserve Command's 403rd Wing fly many hours over the Gulf of Mexico.  Salt and moisture could lead to corrosion if aircraft are not kept clean.
