This book is meant to honour and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force and its heritage and to engage in the preservation of Canada's aviation history. Canadian Warplanes II covers the military aircraft flown by the RCAF and Canadian Forces from the beginning to present day. The chapters briefly summarize the aviation events of significance in Canadian history in times of peace and war. The aviators and their aircraft are covered in moderate detail and illustrated with many photos from the Library and Archives Canada files, RCAF, DND and various library files, personal photos and illustrations provided by friends and colleagues. The intent is to provide fresh information for aviation historians, artists and enthusiasts looking for that unusual military aviation story, and to support the efforts of those engaged in the search for those missing pieces of our Canadian aviation history that need to be researched and recorded for posterity. "Sic Itur ad Astra" - such is the pathway to the stars.
