Eight McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornets assigned to the River Rattlers, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 204, in formation over southern Louisiana's wetlands during a photo exercise.  VFA 204 is stationed on Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans.

U.S. Army Air Corps Douglas B-18 test aircraft, 3rd Attack Group, Barksdale Field, Louisiana, 5 Nov 1941.  The B-18 was used to test an airfoil (NACA 0012) which was mounted just forward of the vertical stabilizer. The purpose of this test was to conduct boundary-layer and profile-drag tests in which Reynolds Number and angle of attack were varied independently.

Douglas AD-4NA Skyraider (BuNos. 126986 and 127002) of Attack Squadron VA-822, U.S. Naval Air Reserve Unit Louisiana.  They were flying near Pecan Island in the Gulf of Mexico to drop fuel and cannon fire on a blowout gas well in an attempt to set it afire as a hazard to shipping.  The pilots were LCDR Joel Morris, USNR, Commanding Officer of VA-822 and LCDR Harold Wheelahan, ca 1950s.

Two Russian Tupolev Tu-95 Bear-H bomber aircraft, center, and a Russian AntonovAN-124 Condor transport aircraft parked on the flight line beside a Boeing B-52H Stratofortress aircraft of the 62nd Bombardment Squadron, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, 1 May 1992.  The Russian aircraft were on base as part of an exchange program proposed by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Boeing B-52H Stratofortress, 2nd Bomb Wing based at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.  It is seen here at rest in the evening sun awaiting a bombing mission during Operation Noble Anvil (the bombing of Serbia).  This aircraft arrived at RAF Fairford on 21 Feb 1999 as callsign "Havoc 03".
