Fairchild Model 24-C8F, a civilian aircraft first produced on display at the NMUSAF, Reg. No. NC16817, served in the Civil Air Patrol at Coastal Base 2, Rehoboth, Delaware, during the Second World War.  The wartime owner of this airplane, CAP 1Lt. M.M. Wilder, was awarded the Air Medal for his service at Coastal Patrol Base 2.  This aircraft has been repainted as it was while flying for the CAP.  It was donated to the museum in 1991 by Lt. Col. George L. Wiess, USAF (Ret.), Fort Washington, Maryland.
