Canadair CT-133 Silver Star (Serial No. 133130), (Serial No. 21130), silver, mounted on a pylon. Brandon Municipal Airport. This aircraft has "99's" painted on the nose and there is a plaque attached which states: "Presented to McGill field by Western Manitoba Chapter Ninety Nines Inc women pilots in the interest of aviation 5 July 1971."

Carman, Friendly Field
Robert Diemert has restored a number of historic aircraft for clients in the USA, including an Aichi Navy 99 Val 2, (Serial No. 3179), initially sent to the Canada Aviation Museum and later to the USA; an Avro 652A Anson; a de Havilland DH 60 Moth Minor; a North American B-25 Mitchell, (Serial No. N3152G); a CAC Mustang 23, (Serial No. A68-175), to Australia and then on to the USA; and a Hawker Hurricane. He restored a Fairey Firefly Mk. V for the CWHM. He has restored three Japanese Nakajima/Mitsubishi A6M5 Zeke fighters, with one sold to Commemorative Air Force (CAF), and another to the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM), Pensacola, USA. The third Zeke crashed on take-off. Parts of three others have been sold to the Blayd Corporation.

Canadair CT-133 Silver Star (Serial No. 133239), (Serial No. 21239), mounted on a pylon. This aircraft crashed on 6 May 1957, after taking off from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. The pilot noted the gear was up and the end of the runway was approaching when the engine flamed out. At the end of the runway there was a construction site and a mound of dirt approximately 4 or 5 feet high. The pilot carried out a belly landing sliding along when the left tank hit the mound of dirt ripping the tank off and sending the plane into a spin. Both the instructor and student were able to walk away with minimal bruising. The cause of the flame out was a malfunctioning fuel pump.

Canadair CP-107 Argus (Serial No. 20715), wreckage. 20715 was donated the the Western Canadian Aviation Museum (WCAM) in Winnipeg, and was sent to Gimli for storage. Apparently it was in a hangar in Gimli for a few years and then sat outside the hangar for a while before being sold into private hands. The forward fuselage sits in a field near a house with many derelict cars and the galley area, inboard engine and undercarriage portions of the aircraft are in another field nearby.

This aviation handbook is designed to be used as a quick reference to the classic military heritage aircraft that have been flown by members of the Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and the Canadian Forces. The interested reader will find useful information and a few technical details on most of the military aircraft that have been in service with active Canadian squadrons both at home and overseas. 100 selected photographs have been included to illustrate a few of the major examples in addition to the serial numbers assigned to Canadian service aircraft. For those who like to actually see the aircraft concerned, aviation museum locations, addresses and contact phone numbers have been included, along with a list of aircraft held in each museum's current inventory or on display as gate guardians throughout Canada and overseas. The aircraft presented in this edition are listed alphabetically by manufacturer, number and type. Although many of Canada's heritage warplanes have completely disappeared, a few have been carefully collected, restored and preserved, and some have even been restored to flying condition.
