Canadian Technical Training Corps

The Canadian Technical Training Corps (CTTC) was created in 1943 to satisfy the need for qualified tradesmen to service military equipment. The programme provided apprenticeship training for several trades including electricians, mechanics, machinists, radar technicians, draughtsmen and drivers. Recruits were given one month of general military training, followed by a three-month orientation course.

After their initial training, apprentices were then sent for six to ten months of trades instruction. During the two years of its existence, over 2,700 young men went through the program. The CTTC was disbanded in February 1945.
