Supermarine Seafire FR Mk. 47, RN (Serial No. VP441), painted as an aircraft that served with No. 804 NAS which was part of the 14th Carrier Air Group in 1948., Reg. No. N47SF. VP441 was manufactured at South Marston and first flew on 30 November 1947. It entered service with No. 804 Naval Air Squadron at RNAS Ford, Sussex, early in February 1948. The Sqn moved to RNAS Eglinton, Northern Ireland on 25 May 1948. The Sqn embarked on HMS Ocean and sailed to the Mediterranean on 24 August 1948, arriving on 3 September. Sometime about November, VP441 suffered damage in a deck landing accident. Although it was repaired at the Aircraft Repair Yard at Kalafrana, Malta, it did not return to service but was transferred back to England and placed in storage. It was upgraded in 1951, and used as an instructional airframe in 1953 until struck off charge in 1954. It went through several owners before coming to the USA in April 1975. Restored by Ezell Aviation, flown in 2004, owned by James E. Smith.
