The aim of this website is to locate, identify and document Warplanes from the Second World War preserved in the Republic of Korea.  Many contributors have assisted in the hunt for these aircraft to provide and update the data on this website.  Photos are by the author unless otherwise credited.  Any errors found here are by the author, and any additions, corrections or amendments to this list of Warplane Survivors of the Second World War in the Republic of Korea would be most welcome and may be e-mailed to the author at hskaarup@rogers.com.

A former Japanese Tachikawa Ki-9 "Spruce" pictured at airfield K-1 (Pusan-West) in South Korea during 1951.  It is painted in South Korean markings on the wings and a 1944-1946-style US insignia on the fuselage.

U.S. Navy aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Group 101 (CVG-101) in flight off Korea, in August 1951.  CVG-101 was deployed to Korea aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer (CV-21) from 2 March to 24 October 1951.  Visible are two Vought F4U-4 Corsairs each of Fighter Squadron 791 (VF-791) "Fighting Falcons" (A-2XX) and VF-884 "Bitter Birds", and four Douglas AD-2 Skyraider of Attack Squadron 702 (VA-702) "Rustlers".

U.S. Marine Corps mechanics service a Royal Navy Hawker Sea Fury FB.11 (Serial No. WE790).   This aircraft was likely in service with the Royal Australian Navy.  RAN 805 and 808 Squadrons operated from the aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney (R17) off Korea between 4 October 1951 and 27 January 1952.  In the background is a Vought F4U-4 Corsair. Unusual is the lack of any tail code on either aircraft.
